Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Destiny, has reached an exciting new milestone in its journey to joining the fleet. Late in the evening on Friday, September 19, 2025, the ship departed the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, beginning its conveyance through the Ems River toward the North Sea.
This step marks one of the most significant phases in the construction process for a Disney Cruise Line ship. The carefully coordinated maneuver takes the vessel down the narrow river, passing through locks and drawbridges in a journey that typically spans several hours. Once the ship reaches the North Sea, additional work and sea trials will follow to ensure the ship is ready to welcome its first guests.
The Disney Destiny is the third ship in the Triton class, following the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure. Like her sisters, the Destiny will feature a Grand Hall inspired by Disney stories of courage and adventure, along with Broadway-style shows, innovative dining, and family-focused entertainment.

The ship’s maiden voyage is scheduled for November 2025, and excitement has been building as construction milestones continue to be met. This latest development signals that the finish line is in sight, with interior work, technical outfitting, and crew preparations set to ramp up in the coming weeks.
Disney Cruise Line fans have been eagerly following the Destiny’s progress since the first steel was cut. Seeing the ship make her way toward open waters is one of the last major steps before delivery to Disney Cruise Line later this year.
With this milestone complete, anticipation is higher than ever for the ship’s debut and the unique experiences it will bring to guests around the world.
